Great Lakes District Council

May 5, 2007

Washington, DC-- Locals represented: Terre Haute, Toledo, NE Ohio, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Toledo, Erie, and a visitor from the NewsMedia Guild.

 President Fisher called meeting to order at 5:20 p.m.

 Secretary’s report: M/Vellequette S/Nutall to approve minutes from the winter meeting in Buffalo. Passed. Correspondence from locked out Toledo workers thanking GLDC for its contribution.

Treasurer’s report: Webb reported balances of $1507.97 in Checking and $2075.58 in a CD, and that Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Detroit, and Toledo are in good standing. S/Simpson S/Bucsko to approve treasurer’s report. Passed.

Old Business

1. President Fisher reported on NextGen developments, including website at wwwmyspace.com/pghguild.

2. Stephens reported that the Healthy Locals Initiative within the GLDC will work geographically. Stephens and Bucsko will contact locals as meetings allow. Stephens reported that the process is to be completed by February.

New Business

1. M/Webb S/many to donate $250 to the Locked Out Worker Relief Fund. Passed.
2. M/Pryber S/Buckso to appoint President Fisher as representative to Council of councils.

Good & Welfare

Meetings: July 12-17 TNG Sector Conference & CWA Convention Toronto.

         Nov. 9-11 Winter meeting in Chicago.

Stephens reported new delegates forum 6 p.m. the night before.

M/Stephens S/Many to adjourn at 5:35 p.m. Passed.
